About the Role

Role Overview:
LOPEZ is looking for a Design Director to lead the creative growth of the studio. This role goes beyond conventional design leadership, requiring expertise at both macro and micro levels. The Design Director will be instrumental in enhancing design quality, mentoring teams, and reducing founder dependency. The position offers long-term leadership opportunities with the potential for broader creative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • • Lead and oversee design quality across various projects, ensuring consistency between strategic intent and creative execution

  • • Mentor Design Managers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams to build stronger creative capability

  • • Provide creative direction across branding, communication, digital, and experience projects, balancing creative ambition with business requirements

  • • Develop identity systems and design frameworks that work cohesively across different touchpoints

  • • Engage confidently with senior stakeholders, translate business challenges into clear creative direction, and build trust through professionalism

  • • Help reduce founder dependency, improve collaboration between teams, and support the studio's long-term growth and maturity
  • Qualifications Required:

  • • 815 years of experience in a leading design consultancy, branding studio, or multidisciplinary creative practice

  • • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in identity systems, communication, and experience

  • • Proven ability to mentor teams, lead creative reviews, and strong understanding of design principles

  • • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, along with a degree in Design or related discipline preferred
