About the Role

As a Citi Community Capital - Real Estate Underwriting - Assistant Vice President, you will play a critical role within the Structured Credit and Real Estate Underwriting (RESCU) team, managing a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of real estate assets primarily in the affordable housing space across North America. Your responsibilities will include:

  • • Working proactively with the Underwriting team/ Asset Manager to ensure timely information flow/ communications among all internal stakeholders

  • • Reviewing property-level financials and borrower/guarantor financial statements to identify deteriorating trends and support portfolio reviews

  • • Overseeing and reviewing the work product of junior analysts, providing constructive feedback to ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery

  • • Assisting with classification and risk rating processes, identifying data trends & deteriorating asset performance

  • • Monitoring compliance of assigned deals with financing terms and conditions, portfolio performance, and financial triggers to mitigate credit risks

  • • Monitoring projects under development, overseeing construction progress, budget tracking, draw reviews, and risk ratings

  • • Preparing annual credit approval and quarterly memos in a timely manner

  • • Assisting with stress testing, concentration analysis, audits, risk ratings, and credit policy initiatives

  • • Maintaining audit-ready credit files in line with policies
  • Qualification Required:

  • • 6+ years of experience in credit analysis, portfolio management, underwriting, or structuring at a financial institution

  • • Strong Microsoft Office skills, modeling experience is a plus

  • • Strong attention to detail

  • • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • • Team player with strong work ethic

  • • Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure

  • • Ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines

  • • Real estate or structured credit experience preferred

  • • Education: MBA or CFA or CA
