The Senior Manager at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) occupies a pivotal executive position, entrusted with the comprehensive oversight of the organization's financial operations and strategic financial planning. The Sr Manager is instrumental in ensuring TERI's financial stability and sustainability, providing critical support for strategic decisions, and driving enhancements in operational efficiency. Job Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy and Planning:

· Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with TERI's mission and goals.

· Lead the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning.

· Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Financial Management and Reporting:

· Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and forecasts.

· Ensure compliance with financial regulations, standards, and policies.

· Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risks.

Operational Efficiency:

· Optimize financial processes and systems for efficiency and effectiveness.

· Implement best practices in financial management and controls.

· Monitor and control operational expenses to achieve financial targets.

Funding and Grants Management:

· Oversee the management of grants, donations, and funding sources.

· Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to donors and stakeholders.

· Develop strategies to enhance funding and resource mobilization.

Team Leadership and Development:

· Lead and mentor the finance team to achieve high performance.

· Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

· Ensure professional development and training for finance staff.

Stakeholder Engagement:

· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including board members, donors, and partners.

· Represent TERI in financial discussions and negotiations.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions and regulatory bodies.

Risk Management:

· Identify, assess, and manage financial risks.

· Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.

· Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
Education:
· Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience:
· Minimum of 12 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.

· Experience in the non-profit sector, particularly in energy and environmental organizations, is preferred.

· Proven track record in financial planning, budgeting, and reporting.

Skills:

  • • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in FCRA compliance, fund utilization, reporting, and liaison with regulatory authorities.

  • • Expertise in financial governance for donor-funded, grant-based, and multi-stakeholder projects.

  • • Sound understanding of Indian statutory compliances including Income Tax, GST, CSR regulations, and Societies/Trust-related financial regulations.

  • • Experience in handling internal and external audits, statutory audits, donor audits, and compliance reviews.

  • • Strong capabilities in financial risk assessment, internal controls, and compliance management frameworks.

  • • Proficiency in ERP systems, financial analytics tools, and digital financial management platforms.

  • • Ability to manage financial operations across multiple projects, divisions, and funding streams.

  • • Experience in preparing utilization certificates (UCs), donor financial reports, and regulatory submissions.

  • • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills with government agencies, international donors, banks, and funding institutions.

  • • High standards of integrity, confidentiality, and ethical financial management practices.
