About the Role

General Manager/Vice President - Supply Chain Management

Role Purpose:

This position will be responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations of the manufacturing facility. The incumbent will drive strategic planning and execution across procurement, inventory management, logistics, warehousing, production planning, and distribution while ensuring cost efficiency, operational excellence, and uninterrupted material availability.

Key Responsibilities:

Supply Chain Strategy & Planning:

  • • Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives and plant production plans.


  • • Lead Sales & Operations Planning processes to ensure demand-supply synchronization.


  • • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency and responsiveness.


  • Procurement & Vendor Management:

  • • Oversee procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, and services.


  • • Develop strategic sourcing initiatives and vendor development programs.


  • • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms to optimize procurement costs.


  • • Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and timely deliveries.


  • Production Planning & Inventory Management:

  • • Ensure effective production planning and material requirement planning.


  • • Maintain optimum inventory levels while minimizing carrying costs.


  • • Monitor inventory accuracy, stock ageing, and slow-moving inventory.


  • • Drive inventory reduction and working capital optimization initiatives.


  • Logistics & Distribution:

  • • Manage inbound and outbound logistics operations.


  • • Ensure timely dispatches and customer deliveries.


  • • Optimize transportation costs and improve logistics efficiencies.


  • • Monitor freight contracts, warehouse operations, and distribution performance.


  • Warehouse Management:

  • • Ensure efficient warehousing practices and inventory control systems.


  • • Implement best practices for material handling, storage, and stock reconciliation.


  • • Maintain compliance with safety and statutory requirements.


  • Team Leadership:

  • • Lead and mentor cross-functional SCM teams including procurement, planning, logistics, and warehouse functions.


  • • Establish performance metrics and drive a high-performance culture.


  • • Develop succession planning and capability-building initiatives within the SCM team.


  • Compliance & Governance:

  • • Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory regulations, and audit requirements.


  • • Support ESG and sustainability initiatives related to procurement and supply chain operations.


  • • Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and safety standards.


  • Key Performance Indicators:

  • • Inventory Turnover Ratio


  • • Working Capital Optimization

  • Qualifications:

  • • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or related discipline.


  • • MBA / PGDM in Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Materials Management preferred.


  • Experience:

  • • Proven experience in leading end-to-end supply chain operations at a large manufacturing facility.


  • • Strong exposure to procurement, production planning, logistics, warehousing, and inventory management.


  • • Experience in SAP/ERP systems and advanced planning tools.
