We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead a prominent Cooperative Bank based in Pune, Maharashtra. This pivotal leadership role involves steering the bank's strategic direction, ensuring robust financial performance, and fostering sustainable growth in a dynamic banking landscape. The CEO will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the bank's operations, including strategic planning, risk management, regulatory compliance, and driving business development across multiple branches.
This individual will work closely with the Board of Directors, senior management teams, and key external stakeholders, including regulators and community leaders, to uphold the bank's cooperative values while delivering exceptional service to its members and contributing significantly to the local economy. The role demands a leader with 15-25 years of extensive experience in banking, particularly within the cooperative sector or retail banking, who can inspire teams, innovate solutions, and ensure the bank's long-term prosperity and relevance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the bank's strategic vision and business plan, ensuring alignment with cooperative principles and long-term growth objectives for all branches.
- Oversee comprehensive financial management, including budgeting, asset-liability management, and investment strategies, to maintain financial stability and profitability for the institution.
- Drive business development initiatives, expanding the bank's market share and product offerings while enhancing customer relationships and member satisfaction across the branch network.
- Establish and enforce robust risk management frameworks and internal controls, safeguarding the bank's assets and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing senior management team and workforce, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and ethical conduct throughout the organization.
- Represent the bank effectively to regulatory bodies, industry associations, and the community, building strong relationships and enhancing the bank's reputation as a trusted financial partner.
- Innovate and implement technological advancements and operational efficiencies, optimizing service delivery and enhancing the overall banking experience for members.
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and economic indicators, adapting strategies proactively to ensure the bank's continued competitiveness and resilience.
- Ensure effective governance and reporting to the Board of Directors, providing transparent insights into performance, risks, and strategic progress.
- Champion the cooperative ethos, ensuring that the bank's operations consistently reflect its commitment to member welfare and community development.
Required Skillset:
- Proven ability to formulate and execute strategic plans within the banking sector, demonstrating a clear understanding of market dynamics and competitive positioning.
- Exceptional financial acumen, including expertise in balance sheet management, credit risk assessment, and regulatory compliance specific to cooperative banks.
- Strong leadership capabilities, with a track record of successfully managing and motivating large teams, including Branch Heads and overseeing operations across multiple branches.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective engagement with the Board, employees, members, regulators, and other external stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of the Indian banking regulatory environment, particularly for cooperative banks, ensuring adherence to all statutory and compliance norms.
- Demonstrated capacity for innovation and adaptability, driving change and embracing new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is essential; an MBA or professional banking qualification (e.g., CAIIB) is highly preferred.
- Resides in or is willing to relocate to Pune, Maharashtra, with a strong commitment to on-site leadership and engagement with local operations and community.
