About the Role

As a Tech Chief Control Officer, Vice President at Barclays, you will play a crucial role as a Risk and Control expert, driving the business forward to help customers. You will be responsible for owning the Risk and Control within APACME across multiple technology platforms, ensuring alignment with the overall Barclays technology strategy. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • • Leading the development and implementation of the bank's technology risk management strategy

  • • Overseeing risk assessments of critical systems and services, identifying vulnerabilities, and implementing mitigation strategies

  • • Ensuring the integrity and security of the bank's IT systems, applications, and networks through effective risk controls

  • • Overseeing and ensuring full compliance with regional and international technology regulations

  • • Managing audits, both internal and external, and ensuring swift resolution of any audit findings

  • • Developing and implementing comprehensive cybersecurity strategies to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats

  • • Regularly reporting on risk status, compliance, and control effectiveness to senior leadership and the board

    • Qualifications required for this role:

  • • Certification in IT governance or risk management (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CISM, or CRISC)

  • • Advanced certifications in cybersecurity and data privacy management would be advantageous

  • • In-depth knowledge of banking operations and financial services, with a focus on digital transformation and emerging fintech trends

  • • Previous experience in a VP or senior leadership role within the banking or financial services industry

  • • Strong analytical skills for identifying potential risks and suggesting practical, business-focused solutions

  • • Experience in managing business continuity planning, disaster recovery testing, and ensuring the resilience of technology systems

  • • Experience in managing technology control and risk on a global scale, particularly in regions with complex regulatory environments

  • • Proven ability to lead and manage technology transformation projects, driving cultural change and adoption of new technologies

    • In this role, you will partner with the bank to provide independent assurance on control processes, advise on improvements, and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework. Your accountabilities will include:

  • • Collaborating across the bank to maintain a robust and efficient control environment

  • • Developing detailed test plans and procedures to identify weaknesses in internal controls

  • • Communicating key findings and observations to relevant stakeholders

  • • Developing a knowledge center containing detailed documentation of control assessments

    • As a Vice President at Barclays, you are expected to contribute to strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change. You will manage policies, deliver continuous improvements, and escalate breaches of policies and procedures. You will also advise key stakeholders, manage and mitigate risks, and demonstrate leadership in managing risk and strengthening controls within your team.
