About the role

This is Oolka's first design leadership hire.

You'll have the opportunity to define the product experience, design culture, and quality standards for a company building AI-first financial products for millions of users.

We're looking for someone who enjoys being close to the work while also helping build and mentor a growing design team. You'll work closely with founders, product leaders, and engineers to shape both product strategy and execution.

What you’ll do

• Own product design from discovery through execution.

• Shape the vision and experience for Oolka's core products and future initiatives.

• Conduct user research and turn insights into product opportunities.

• Partner closely with Product and Engineering to influence product direction.

• Design intuitive AI-powered experiences that build trust and clarity.

• Establish and maintain a high bar for design quality across the company.

• Build scalable design foundations, systems, and processes.

• Mentor designers and help grow the design team over time.

• Contribute to hiring and building a strong design culture.

What we’re looking for

• A hands-on design leader who enjoys staying close to the craft, this role is roughly 60% product design and 40% team leadership.

• 7–12 years of product design experience building and shipping consumer products at scale.

• Strong B2C product intuition and a deep understanding of user behaviour.

• Excellent product thinking, problem-solving, and systems thinking skills.

• Exceptional visual design craft with a high bar for quality and attention to detail.

• Experience conducting user research and translating insights into product decisions.

• Proven ability to collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams.

• Curiosity about AI and excitement for designing AI-native consumer experiences.

• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment with high ownership and autonomy.

Nice to have

• Fintech or financial services experience.

• Experience building or scaling design systems.

• Experience working in high-growth startup environments.
