About the Role

Role Overview:
As the Group Chief Operating Officer (Country COO) in India at Deutsche Bank, you will be responsible for managing the matrix organization's operations in the country. Your primary focus will be to ensure effective control environment within the business divisions and infrastructure functions. You will work closely with the Chief Country Officer (CCO) to uphold Corporate Governance policies, provide local input in global/regional processes, and deliver cross-divisional country business, infrastructure, and strategic plans. Additionally, you will collaborate with regional/global sponsors to ensure initiatives meet country requirements and improve business and infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • • Establish and maintain a documented governance framework on the country level to balance the interests of DB Group's matrix organization

  • • Exercise veto on matters conflicting with country/local interests, focusing on resolving governance, control, and operational challenges

  • • Challenge and ensure effective control environment in place for local entities and units in the country

  • • Serve as a country escalation point for COOs of units and infrastructure heads

  • • Ensure consistent application of governance requirements, manage assessments, and facilitate audits/inspections

  • • Promote DB Group's brand in the country and support local CSR activities

  • • Manage appointment/release process for local management positions and hiring decisions for country/local heads

  • • Drive collaboration and trust-based relationships across units within the country

  • • Set clear direction for the team, manage performance, and empower direct reports

  • • Act as an escalation channel for dispute resolution and oversee disciplinary processes

  • • Represent the country towards internal/external stakeholders and maintain key relationships

  • • Ensure effective control mechanisms are in place for risk management
  • Qualifications Required:

  • • Prior work experience (20+ years) in the Banking and Financial Services Industry in senior positions

  • • Knowledge of regulatory matters, banking operations, risk management, and technology

  • • Experience in dealing with regulators will be a plus

  • • Bachelor's degree or higher in any area

  • • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills

  • • Adaptable character and ability to work in a dynamic environment
