About the Role
RSM is seeking a Director - Finance, Tax & Financial Governance to provide strategic leadership across enterprise tax governance, procure-to-pay oversight, and treasury control frameworks for its India operations. This is a critical leadership role offering high visibility to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape enterprise governance frameworks in a dynamic and rapidly growing global environment, while ensuring robust compliance with direct and indirect tax regulations, strengthening vendor payment governance, and maintaining disciplined financial risk management aligned with global finance standards.
The Director will work in close leadership partnership with the India Finance Leader, supporting strategic finance priorities, strengthening governance frameworks, and ensuring seamless execution of tax, payment, and treasury responsibilities. This role will collaborate extensively with global finance leadership, controllership, legal, procurement, and business teams to drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and financial integrity across the organization.
Qualification and Minimum Entry Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or equivalent qualification
- 15+ years of progressive experience in tax leadership and finance governance roles
- Strong expertise in Indian direct and indirect tax frameworks
- Experience managing complex tax audits, litigation, and regulatory engagements
- Deep understanding of procure-to-pay, treasury governance, and compliance environments
- Proven leadership experience managing large cross-functional finance teams
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Experience working within global matrix organizations
- Strong program and project management capabilities
Position Responsibilities
Enterprise Tax Leadership & Governance
- Provide enterprise leadership across the organization's direct and indirect tax landscape, ensuring robust compliance frameworks aligned with evolving regulatory requirements and global tax policies.
- Oversee corporate tax compliance, withholding tax frameworks, transfer pricing matters, Advance Pricing Agreements, and related audits or litigation.
- Serve as the primary interface with tax authorities, external advisors, and global tax leadership on complex regulatory and compliance matters.
Indirect Tax Governance & Regulatory Compliance
- Provide oversight of GST governance, compliance frameworks, and regulatory filings across multiple entities and locations.
- Lead resolution of indirect tax disputes, audits, and litigation matters.
- Ensure compliance with MSME regulations and other statutory vendor payment requirements.
- Strengthen tax controls embedded within financial and operational processes.
Procure-to-Pay & Vendor Governance
- Provide enterprise oversight of procure-to-pay governance, strengthening controls across vendor onboarding, procurement policies, payment authorization frameworks, and reimbursement processes.
- Drive disciplined financial governance over vendor compliance, MSME requirements, vendor confirmations, and month-end accrual coordination.
Treasury Governance & Payment Risk Management
- Oversee treasury governance including banking relationships, payment control frameworks, and foreign exchange compliance (including FIRC and cross-border payment structures).
- Strengthen internal safeguards and approval structures to mitigate operational and fraud risks.
Payroll Tax and Workforce Compliance
- Provide leadership oversight of payroll tax compliance, statutory remittances, and global mobility-related tax considerations.
- Partner with HR and global teams to proactively manage workforce-related tax risks, including cross-border employment structures and permanent establishment (PE) exposure.
Business Partnership & Leadership Impact
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, controllership, HR, procurement, and global finance teams on tax, regulatory, and financial governance matters.
- Provide strategic guidance on emerging regulatory developments, risk exposures, and compliance priorities.
Leadership Partnership with India Finance Leader
- Work in close leadership partnership with the India CFO to strengthen enterprise governance across tax, treasury, and payment operations.
- Support execution of finance strategy by building scalable, compliant, and globally aligned processes.
- Build and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Strategic Leadership Responsibilities
- Shape and evolve enterprise tax and payment governance frameworks in line with organizational growth and regulatory complexity.
- Drive alignment of India finance operations with global compliance standards and risk management expectations.
- Represent the organization with credibility and authority before regulators, auditors, and senior global stakeholders.
