About the Role

Job Title: Chief Growth Officer (CCO) API

Company: Morepen Labs

Reporting To: Promoters / Board of Directors

Location: Gurgaon, India (with extensive global travel)


Role Overview:

The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will be responsible for defining and executing the global commercial strategy for Morepen Labs API Business, driving sustainable revenue growth, margin expansion, and long-term strategic partnerships. The role will lead sales, marketing, key account management, and business development across regulated and emerging markets, aligning commercial objectives with the companys manufacturing, R&D, and quality capabilities.

As a key member of the leadership team, the CCO will work closely with the Promoters to scale the business, strengthen the global customer portfolio, and position Morepen Labs as a preferred partner for APIs and Intermediates.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership:

- Develop and execute the global commercial strategy for API business aligned with the companys long-

term vision.

- Identify new growth opportunities across regulated markets (US, EU, Japan) and emerging markets.

- Drive portfolio prioritization, pricing strategy, and margin optimization.

- Provide strategic inputs to capacity expansion, product selection, and investment decisions.


Sales & Revenue Growth:

- Own end-to-end revenue targets, order book, and customer pipeline.

- Lead global sales teams, regional heads, and key account managers.

- Drive large deal closures, long-term supply agreements, and multi-year contracts.

- Establish robust forecasting, CRM, and sales governance processes.


Business Development & Partnerships:

- Build and manage strategic relationships with global pharma, innovators, generic players, and MNCs.

- Lead contract negotiations, commercial terms, and strategic alliances.

- Identify in-licensing, out-licensing, and co-development opportunities where relevant.

- Represent Morepen Labs at global conferences, customer audits, and industry forums.


Marketing & Market Intelligence:

- Define product positioning, go-to-market strategy, and branding for APIs.

- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and customer expectations.

- Guide launch strategies for new APIs, capacity additions, and offerings.


Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Work closely with Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure seamless execution of customer commitments.

- Align customer requirements with technical feasibility, timelines, and compliance standards.

- Act as the voice of the customer within the organization.


Governance & Reporting:

- Report directly to the Promoters with regular updates on performance, risks, and growth opportunities.

- Establish KPIs, dashboards, and performance reviews for commercial teams.

- Ensure compliance with ethical business practices and regulatory expectations.


Key Skills & Competencies:

- Strong strategic thinking with hands-on execution capability

- Deep understanding of API markets.

- Proven expertise in global B2B sales, pricing, and contract negotiations

- Ability to build and lead high-performing, multicultural teams

- Excellent stakeholder management and board-level communication skills

- Commercial acumen with strong financial and P&L understanding


Experience & Qualifications:

- 20+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with significant exposure to APIs.

- Demonstrated success in senior commercial leadership roles (Global / Regional Head, CCO, VP Sales, etc.)

- Strong network with global pharmaceutical customers and partners

- Experience working with promoter-led or board-driven organizations preferred

- MBA or equivalent qualification is desirable (science/pharmacy background strongly preferred)
