Position: Vice President, Software Engineering


The Opportunity

Join FICO's Software Engineering organization as Vice President of Software Engineering, based in our Bangalore office, where you'll lead a critical segment of our platform engineering initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical direction of our platform while building and mentoring world-class engineering teams in one of our largest engineering centre.

Beyond your direct responsibilities, you'll serve as a technical beacon for our Bangalore engineering community, elevating engineering excellence across multiple teams through coaching, mentorship, and technical leadership. This role is perfect for a seasoned platform engineering leader who combines deep technical expertise with exceptional leadership skills and a passion for developing engineering talent.

What You’ll Contribute

Platform Engineering Leadership

  • • Define and execute the technical strategy for your platform domain, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance meet enterprise requirements

  • • Lead the design, and implementation of critical platform components that serve as the foundation for FICO's products

  • • Drive platform modernization initiatives including cloud-native transformation, microservices adoption, and infrastructure automation

  • • Establish technical standards and best practices for platform development, ensuring consistency and quality across all engineering teams

  • • Champion innovative approaches to platform challenges, leveraging emerging technologies to maintain competitive advantage

  • • Build and lead a high-performing platform engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning

  • • Serve as a senior technical mentor across the Bangalore engineering organization, elevating capabilities beyond your direct team

  • • Conduct technical reviews and architecture discussions with other engineering teams to ensure platform best practices

  • • Lead engineering excellence initiatives including tech talks, architecture forums, and knowledge sharing sessions
  • Strategic Partnership

  • • Collaborate with product management and technical architecture teams to ensure platform capabilities align with product roadmaps and customer needs

  • • Partner with global engineering leaders to ensure consistency in platform strategy and implementation across locations

  • • Work closely with other Bangalore engineering leaders to build a cohesive and collaborative engineering culture
  • Operational Excellence

  • • Establish metrics and monitoring systems to ensure platform health, performance, and reliability

  • • Drive continuous improvement in engineering productivity through tooling, automation, and process optimization

  • • Deep technical expertise in modern platform technologies including cloud infrastructure, containerization, and orchestration

  • • Strong background in distributed systems, microservices architectures, and API design with hands-on experience in platform development

  • • Exceptional ability to design scalable, reliable, and secure platform architectures that meet enterprise requirements

  • • Experience with platform modernization including migration from monolithic to microservices architectures

  • • Demonstrated success building and leading large engineering teams in competitive technology markets

  • Educational Background

  • • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field required

  • • Advanced degree (MS, MTech) preferred; additional certifications in cloud platforms or architecture are a plus
