About the Role

Role Overview:
You will be the primary architect of the technical future for the IT Operations Management suite at Freshworks. As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will define and drive the multi-year technical vision, ensuring scalability, resilience, and industry-leading solutions. This high-visibility role will require you to act as a strategic advisor to the CTO and CPO, bridging the gap between ambitious business goals and engineering execution while tackling complex technical challenges and elevating the organization's technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • • Architectural Vision & Strategy: Define and drive the technical vision for ITOM, focusing on distributed systems, high-availability architecture, and AIOps integration.

  • • System Design & Scale: Architect planet-scale services handling billions of events with a focus on observability, incident management, and automated remediation.

  • • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and engineering excellence.

  • • Cross-BU Collaboration: Partner with architects across Business Units to drive platform consistency and shared infrastructure initiatives.

  • • Operational Excellence: Drive reliability, performance, and security standards, adopting modern DevOps/SRE practices.

  • • Market Intelligence Integration: Stay updated on emerging technologies and market trends to ensure Freshworks remains a disruptive force.

  • • Strategic Decision Making: Provide data-driven perspectives on technical decisions, vendor evaluations, and M&A due diligence.

    • Qualifications:
    Professional Qualifications:

  • • Experience: 1215+ years in software engineering with 5 years in a Principal or Distinguished Engineer role at a global product company.

  • • Domain Expertise: Proven track record in building and scaling ITOM, ITSM, or Observability platforms in a SaaS environment.

  • • Scale: Experience in architecting systems handling high-velocity data ingestion and event processing at scale.

  • • Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

    • Leadership Profile:

  • • Strategic Influence: Communicate technical roadmaps to non-technical stakeholders and influence business strategy.

  • • Growth Mindset: Drive continuous improvement and innovation through calculated risks.

    • Technical Skills:
    Core Engineering Mastery:

  • • Polyglot Programming: Proficiency in languages like Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby/C++.

  • • Distributed Systems: Understanding of microservices patterns, distributed caching, and consensus algorithms.

  • • Data Infrastructure: Expertise in NoSQL, SQL, and stream processing frameworks.

  • • Cloud Native: Mastery of AWS/Azure ecosystems, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
