Role : Sr Director, Engineering

At QAD, were building the next generation of intelligent, adaptive enterprise platformsand were looking for a bold, forward thinking Senior Director of Engineering to lead the charge.

This is a highly visible, high impact leadership role where you will define technical strategy, architect modern cloud platforms on AWS, and lead end to end delivery of enterprise scale SaaS products.

You'll operate with Champion Pace, shaping how AI, BI, and data driven insights are embedded across the SDLC while building a culture of ownership, agility, and platform excellence.

You will balance deep technical credibility with strong business acumen, acting as a proactive, assertive leader who inspires teams and influences senior stakeholders while delivering secure, scalable, and future ready solutions.

The Mission : What You'll Be Building :

You will be a core driver behind the design, development, and evolution of QADs next generation platform, anchored on :

- Adaptive Applications The intelligent backbone powering modern manufacturing enterprises.

- Champion AI Agentic AI capabilities that unlock measurable productivity, automation, and growth.

From greenfield platform development to large scale modernization, you will lead teams building cloud native, AI enabled, data driven platforms on AWS, integrating BI, analytics, and intelligent automation deeply into the product lifecycle.

Your Impact/ What you will be doing :

Platform Architecture & Technical Strategy :

- Own and drive the end to end technical vision for a critical platform function, aligning architecture and execution with business strategy.


- Lead AWS based cloud architecture, leveraging microservices, event driven design, and infrastructure as code (Terraform/CDK).


- Champion API first, platform as a product thinking, enabling extensibility, scalability, and faster innovation.

New Platform Development & Innovation :

- Lead the conceptualization and launch of new platforms and major capabilities, from ideation through production and scale.

- Embed AI, ML, and BI capabilities into the SDLCdriving intelligent workflows, predictive insights, and data driven decision making.


- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and proactively introduce innovations that create competitive advantage.

Agile Delivery, Velocity & Quality :

- Drive Agile, product centric engineering practices, enabling fast iteration without compromising quality or security.


- Establish strong CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, and observability.


- Define and track DORA metrics, engineering KPIs, and platform health indicators to continuously improve delivery and reliability.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship :

- Act as a hands on, credible technical leader, guiding architectural decisions and resolving the most complex, cross system challenges.


- Mentor Directors, Managers, Architects, and Senior/Principal Engineers, building a strong leadership bench.


- Lead high impact design and code reviews across teams, setting a high bar for engineering excellence.

Cross Functional Influence & Executive Partnership :

- Partner closely with Product, Info Security, and other groups to deliver world class SaaS solutions.


- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to executive and non technical stakeholders, influencing decisions and driving alignment.


- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on platform, cloud, and AI strategy.

Strategic Accountability & Operations :

- Own outcomes that impact the broader organization, including delivery, reliability, cost, and scalability.


- Manage engineering budgets, headcount planning, tooling strategy, and vendor partnerships.

- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and data governance standards (SOC2, GDPR, etc.).

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Experience & Leadership :

- 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles (Director / Senior Director / VP).


- Proven success building and scaling high performing teams across managers, architects, and senior ICs.


- Strong track record of launching complex, enterprise grade platforms or products.

Core Technical Foundations / What we are looking for :

Cloud, Platform & Architecture Expertise :

- Deep hands on experience with AWS (EKS, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS/DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, etc.).


- Strong background in microservices, distributed systems, and API design (REST/GraphQL).

- Expertise in databases (SQL & NoSQL), data modeling, and platform scalability patterns.

Engineering Foundations :

- Strong command of Data Structures & Algorithms, OOP principles, and system design.

- Experience with modern backend technologies (Java, Node.js, Python) and web platforms.


- Solid understanding of BI, analytics pipelines, and data driven architectures.

DevOps, Security & SDLC :

- Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD tooling, Git based workflows, and observability stacks.


- Strong grasp of secure SDLC practices, compliance, and cloud security.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience in AI driven platforms, FinTech, or high growth SaaS environments.


- Background in startup or scale up environments, building platforms from the ground up.


- Exposure to agentic AI, intelligent automation, or advanced analytics platforms.
