About the Role

Role Overview:
The Principal Engineer at Chubb Digital plays a crucial role in setting the technical direction, influencing organizational strategies, and leading transformational initiatives, including AI adoption. This position requires a deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders across the enterprise. As a CTO-equivalent, you will define the software development approach for the next decade, promote engineering excellence, and facilitate communication between different departments within the technology organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set the long-term technical direction for Chubb Digital, focusing on .NET / Azure-based platforms

• Act as the final authority on critical design decisions, balancing speed, scalability, security, and cost considerations

• Define and enforce enterprise architecture and design standards in collaboration with the Architecture function

• Lead platform modernization and cloud-native transformation on Azure, including microservices, event-driven architectures, and API strategy

• Identify and address technical debt while prioritizing based on business outcomes

• Evaluate and introduce emerging technologies, particularly AI/ML tools, after assessing their strategic fit

Qualifications Required:

• 18+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years at a principal, distinguished, or architect-level scope

• Expertise in .NET (C#) and the Azure ecosystem, with a proven track record in defining and delivering architecture for large-scale systems in regulated industries

• Experience in leading or shaping AI/ML adoption within an engineering organization

• Strong technical competencies in .NET / C#, Azure Platform, Cloud-Native Patterns, AI/ML Engineering, Security & Compliance, DevOps & Platform Engineering, Data & Integration, and Frontend Awareness

• Leadership qualities such as executive presence, influence without authority, strategic thinking, ability to navigate ambiguity, bias for action, effective communication, and a growth mindset
