About the Role

About Dentistry Automation

Dentistry Automation builds software and APIs for dental revenue cycle operations.

We help dental groups and DSOs reduce manual work, improve collections, accelerate cash flow, and scale without adding headcount linearly. Our systems operate directly in the revenue path across eligibility, claims, payments, denials, and collections.

Our product stack includes:

• DA Platform: Workflow and operational automation for RCM teams

• DA API: Reliable endpoints that customers and partners build on

• RCM Automation: Eligibility, claims, ERAs/EOBs, denials, collections

• AI Layer: Applied AI that reduces human effort, improves speed, and increases accuracy

This is a role for someone who likes building systems where correctness matters, edge cases are real, and automation has direct operational and financial impact.

The Role

We are hiring a hands-on Principal Engineer who codes daily, ships fast, and takes ownership in production.

You will build across the stack, drive releases, improve engineering velocity, and help embed AI and automation-first thinking into both the product and the way the team works.

This is not a pure architecture or delegation role. You are expected to build, ship, monitor, fix, and improve what you own.

You should be excited by high-leverage engineering, messy real-world workflows, and using AI pragmatically to reduce manual work and increase throughput.

What You’ll Do

Product + Platform

• Build and ship features end-to-end across frontend, APIs, services, databases, and rollout

• Own deployments and releases, including staged rollouts, feature flags, observability, and rollback plans

• Improve platform reliability, developer velocity, and production quality

• Help shape architecture, tooling, and engineering standards as the system scales

API + Core Infrastructure

• Build and maintain DA API, including:

• Endpoint design and versioning

• Authentication and authorization

• Rate limiting and usage tracking

• Reliability, logging, and SLA-minded design

• Clear, practical developer documentation

• Design reliable background jobs, queues, retries, and failure handling

• Build integrations using APIs, webhooks, and event-driven workflows

RCM Automation

Build workflows across key dental RCM processes, including:

• Eligibility and benefits verification

• Claims readiness, status checks, and follow-up workflows

• ERA/EOB ingestion and payment posting support

• Denials classification, routing, and worklists

• Provider, payer, plan, and practice data normalization

You do not need to know every detail of dental RCM on day one, but you should be comfortable learning complex operational domains quickly and turning them into reliable systems.

AI + Automation

• Apply AI where it creates real operational leverage, such as:

• Extracting data from payer responses, portals, PDFs, and semi-structured documents

• Classifying denials, exceptions, and work queue items

• Summarizing claim status, notes, and operational context

• Use AI to improve engineering productivity, including:

• Code generation

• Refactoring

• Test generation

• Faster prototyping and integration work

• Design AI-assisted systems that are observable, testable, and auditable

• Make strong judgment calls on where deterministic systems are better than AI

• Contribute to voice and agentic workflows where they create practical value

Automation + Scraping

• Build resilient scraping and browser automation systems where APIs do not exist

• Design monitored, restartable workflows that handle failures, retries, and edge cases gracefully

• Push systems toward boring reliability

Core Requirements

• Strong hands-on engineering ability with a bias to ship

• Deep interest in using AI aggressively and pragmatically to reduce manual work and accelerate delivery

• Strong judgment on when to use AI vs deterministic logic

• Comfort owning production systems end-to-end

• Ability to move fast without creating a dumpster fire in prod

Technical Background

Strong experience in most of the following:

• Python

• .NET / C#

• TypeScript

• Azure

• SQL

Must Have

• Strong experience with AI/LLMs in real product or engineering workflows

• Experience with AI-assisted development and code generation workflows

• API product and platform experience

• Experience building integrations, automation pipelines, or scraping/browser automation systems

• Experience owning production systems and releases

Nice to Have

• Healthcare or dental RCM experience

• Experience with OCR, document extraction, or workflow automation

• Experience with voice AI or agentic systems

• Experience building internal developer tooling

What Good Looks Like

• You ship meaningful product every week

• Releases become predictable and low-drama

• AI reduces real human effort, not just demo effort

• Integrations get faster to build and easier to maintain

• The API becomes cleaner and easier for customers to adopt

• You solve root causes, not just patch symptoms

Why This Role Is Different

At DA, engineering is tied directly to operational outcomes. If you improve a workflow, customers feel it. If you automate a process, it saves real labor. If you build something reliable, cash moves faster.

This is a high-ownership role with room to shape architecture, tooling, product direction, and how AI is used across the business.

Application Process

Please submit:

  • A 6–8 minute video covering:
  • • What you have built recently that you are most proud of

    • One system walkthrough, including architecture and tradeoffs

    • Your experience shipping with Python, .NET/C#, and TypeScript

    • One integration or automation workflow you owned

    • How you use AI to improve engineering productivity and system reliability

    • What you would focus on in your first 30 days at DA

  • Links
  • • GitHub

    • Portfolio or demos

    • Resume and/or LinkedIn

  • Short Written Answers
  • • What is your strongest area: backend, integrations, infrastructure, or frontend?

    • What exposure do you have to healthcare or revenue cycle workflows?

    • What time zone are you in, and how much overlap do you have with US Central time?
