Job Title: National Credit Head and Independent Director
Location: Mumbai

Role Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned banking professional with deep expertise in credit underwriting and risk management to join our board as an independent director. The ideal candidate will bring strong governance capabilities, regulatory understanding, and the ability to provide independent oversight on credit strategy and risk practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide independent oversight on credit risk, underwriting policies, and lending frameworks
- The person will be responsible for credit and underwriting functions, as well as overseeing the collections and recovery team
- Review and guide credit approval processes, portfolio quality, and risk appetite
- Participate in Board and Committee meetings (Audit Committee, Risk Management Committee, Credit Committee)
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and corporate governance norms
- Challenge management decisions constructively to strengthen risk controls
- Advise on credit strategy across retail, SME, or corporate segments
- Provide independent oversight of credit underwriting frameworks, policies, and risk appetite
- Review large credit proposals, sectoral exposures, and concentration risks
- Monitor asset quality, including NPAs, restructuring, and provisioning adequacy
- Evaluate stress scenarios and portfolio resilience across economic cycles.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Registered Independent Director with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA)
- 15+ years of experience in banking, NBFCs, or financial services
- Strong background in credit underwriting, risk assessment, and portfolio management
- Prior experience in senior roles such as Chief Credit Officer, Risk Head, or similar
- Familiarity with RBI regulations and compliance frameworks
- The individual should clear the independent director examination.
- The individual should have a sound knowledge of tech and should be able to guide the tech team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience serving on boards or committees of financial institutions
- Expertise in specific lending domains (e.g., retail, MSME, structured finance)
- Professional qualifications such as CA, CFA, MBA (Finance), or equivalent

Ideal Candidate
A former Chief Credit Officer or Head of Risk from a mid-sized NBFC or retail-focused bank who has already served on at least one board committee and can credibly speak to portfolio stress-testing across cycles.
