We help retailers, brands, and marketplaces automate ingestion, enrichment, validation, and syndication so teams launch faster, reduce manual work, and improve conversion.

Our platform runs on modern cloud and AI infrastructure, including LLMs, retrieval, and microservices, and powers workflows such as onboarding, taxonomy and attributes, media generation, localization, and compliance at enterprise scale.

We are expanding our engineering leadership team in India and building a strong, co-located execution culture in Noida.

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Head of Engineering, India with strong full-stack engineering depth, experience building AI-driven systems, and solid DevOps and cloud knowledge. This is a highly technical leadership role for someone who can lead from the front. You will write code selectively, review code deeply, drive architecture, raise engineering standards, and lead a growing engineering organization in India.

This role is not just about managing a team. You will serve as the day-to-day engineering leader for the company, partnering closely with the founder and U.S.-based leadership to drive execution, improve platform quality, and build the engineering culture and operating cadence needed for the next stage of growth.

You will be based on-site in Noida with the team and will lead and grow a co-located engineering organization over time. The team may grow to approximately 15 people across full-stack engineering, AI engineering, and platform/DevOps.

In the first 90 days, your primary mission will be to stabilize the platform by raising code standards, improving quality, strengthening architectural consistency, and maintaining a continuous release cadence.

Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership
• Own day-to-day engineering execution for the India team across product engineering, AI engineering, and platform work.
• Own delivery cadence, release readiness, and engineering accountability across the team.
• Drive code quality standards, PR discipline, release gates, and development best practices to reduce regressions and rework.
• Own sprint planning, technical execution, architecture tradeoffs, and delivery timelines with clear accountability.
• Establish coding standards, architecture patterns, documentation expectations, and definition of done.
• Review critical PRs, mentor engineers, and raise the overall quality bar across Dev and AI workstreams.
• Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, clarity, speed with quality, and continuous improvement.
• Partner closely with the founder, product leadership, design, and U.S.-based technical leadership to align engineering output with company priorities.
• Hire, coach, and develop engineers in India as the team grows.

Hands-on Architecture and Development
• Contribute directly to system design and selectively to implementation in high-priority areas.
• Build and maintain features in our Fegmo PIM using Symfony and PHP 8.x.
• Develop microservices in Python and FastAPI for AI workflows, data pipelines, and integrations.
• Support internal UI and workflow tooling using React and TypeScript.
• Improve APIs, schema design, and data models across the platform.
• Make pragmatic technical decisions that balance speed, scalability, maintainability, and quality.

AI and Agentic Systems
• Integrate and orchestrate LLMs and smaller task-specific models across cloud AI platforms and internal services.
• Build agentic workflows for product understanding, attributes, taxonomy, image generation, video, virtual try-on, and enrichment.
• Work with embeddings, vector stores, metadata pipelines, and retrieval-based systems.
• Ensure latency, scalability, observability, and cost efficiency for AI workloads in production.

DevOps, Reliability, and Cloud Infrastructure
• Oversee deployments on Google Cloud, including Cloud Run, GCE VMs, and GCS.
• Own and improve GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
• Improve Docker builds, service startup performance, reliability, and release automation.
• Monitor logs, metrics, uptime, performance, and cloud cost efficiency.
• Support VM-based PIM deployments using Docker Compose.
• Lead environment hygiene, secrets management, release management, and operational readiness.
• Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive engineering improvements.

Quality and Operational Excellence
• Define and enforce testing strategy, observability standards, release practices, and engineering documentation.
• Ensure secure engineering practices across environments, code, dependencies, and deployments.
• Improve the reliability of production and non-production environments.
• Create systems and habits that help a small startup team execute with consistency and discipline.

Required Skills and ExperienceTechnical and Leadership Experience
• 10 to 14+ years of experience in software engineering, with meaningful experience leading engineering teams and remaining hands-on.
• Proven experience acting as the technical and delivery leader for a startup, product line, or engineering team with significant ownership.
• Strong full-stack engineering ability in:
• Python, preferably FastAPI and microservices
• PHP 8.x, preferably Symfony
• React and TypeScript
• Experience delivering AI-driven features or platforms in production, including LLM integrations, orchestration layers, retrieval systems, or related workflows.
• Strong experience with GCP, including Cloud Run, VMs, GCS, IAM, and production operations.
• Strong Docker, Linux, and CI/CD experience, preferably GitHub Actions.
• Solid experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, API design, and distributed systems.
• Strong system design and architecture judgment.
• Experience mentoring engineers and enforcing engineering discipline across code quality, testing, reliability, and documentation.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with founders and distributed stakeholders.
• Strong ownership mindset, urgency, and willingness to solve hard problems in a fast-moving startup environment.

Nice to Have
• Prior experience with PIM, DAM, syndication platforms, or catalog systems.
• Experience with enterprise retail, ecommerce systems, or marketplace APIs.
• Multi-agent orchestration experience.
• Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, or infrastructure-as-code.
• Familiarity with image and video pipelines or media processing systems.
• Prior experience building or leading an India engineering center or co-located product engineering team.
