Role Description
The Observability Engineering Lead is responsible for the strategic and technical leadership of the observability and monitoring function within the organisation. This role will oversee the implementation, optimisation, and management of monitoring tools such as NewRelic, Nimsoft, Geneos, and capacity management solutions. The lead will also manage the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) function, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance of critical systems.

**Your key responsibilities
Technical Leadership**

• Lead the engineering and SRE teams responsible for observability and monitoring across the enterprise.

• Design, implement, and optimise monitoring solutions using NewRelic, Nimsoft, Geneos, and capacity management tools.

• Evaluate and introduce new tools and features to enhance observability capabilities.

• Stay updated with product specifications, releases, and industry trends

Team Management:

• Manage and mentor a team of 15. engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

• Oversee all deliverables from the engineering and SRE teams.

• Build and develop team capabilities through coaching, training, and recruitment

Collaboration . Stakeholder Engagement:

• Work closely with product owners, architects, and customers to design solutions and ensure alignment with business needs.

• Guide stakeholders on tool/feature fitment and support proof of concepts.

• Collaborate with the architecture team to secure approval for new products and features.

Subject Matter Expertise:

• Act as the SME for NewRelic, Nimsoft, Geneos, and capacity management tools.

• Provide technical guidance and best practices for observability and monitoring.

Operational Excellence:

• Ensure robust monitoring, alerting, and capacity management processes are in place.

• Drive transformation projects in the observability space, focusing on scalability, reliability, and cost optimization.

• Oversee the software engineering lifecycle, license cost management, and Agile practices

Your skills and experience

• Hands on experience on NewRelic, Nimsoft, Geneos. Experience in capacity management tools. Must have managed an engineering team of 20..

• Strong background in technical architecture and transformation of observability tools.

• Demonstrated success in planning and executing large transformation projects in the observability space.

• Must have a good understanding of software engineering lifecycle, license cost management, Agile. Should be familiar with Jira, Confluence or equivalent tools. Must have good analytical and problem solving skills.

• Good communication skills and stakeholder management are mandatory.

• Experience in a banking/financial organizations, development experience using Java/Python/nodeJS . enterprise grade scheduling tools is an advantage.
