As the Engineering Director for CLM Core Client Systems at PBWM, your role is crucial in leading the delivery and evolution of PBWM's core Client Lifecycle Management (CLM) client systems. You will ensure that engineering outcomes align with PBWM's business and technology strategy by delivering highquality, resilient, and secure platforms using modern, APIfirst microservices architecture and the latest AI technologies.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead and develop highperforming engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement. - Own and execute the engineering roadmap for CLM core client systems, aligned with PBWM CLM platform strategy and enterprise technology direction. - Drive modern engineering solutions using APIfirst microservices, containerization, and scalable, distributed architectures, with alignment to CLM domains including Client Party Master, onboarding, KYC/CDD, client reviews, and risk assessment.
• Maintain handson engagement (circa 20%) to provide technical leadership, including architectural decisionmaking, design and code reviews, and development of proofs of concept.
• Translate complex CLM functional needs into robust technical designs, guiding teams toward highquality, maintainable, and secure implementations.
• Troubleshoot complex production and delivery issues, performing deep rootcause analysis and driving sustainable corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement across the CLM engineering stack through modernization initiatives, adoption of common frameworks, reusable components, and improved tooling.
• Be accountable for endtoend delivery of system changes, ensuring outcomes meet quality, timeliness, cost, and regulatory expectations.
• Collaborate closely with CLM SMEs, Product Owners, Architects, and Operations teams to ensure strong functional and technical alignment across the CLM ecosystem.
• Ensure all activities are delivered in compliance with regulatory requirements, EnterpriseWide Risk Management Framework, and Barclays policy standards.
Qualifications Required: - Practical experience across a range of delivery methodologies and organizational structures.
• Expert background in complex delivery, operations, and product engineering using technologies such as Java, Full Stack, AWS, CRM, Kafka, and DevOps.
• Strong experience and understanding of Java based APIs, microservices, containerization, and elastic, scalable distributed architectures.
• Experience of aPaaS and SaaS platform engineering practices including high release cadence, zerodowntime deployment, resilience, scalability, and security.
• Proven ability to engage handson where required with architecture, code quality, design reviews, and technical problem solving.
• Outstanding relationship and stakeholder management skills with experience operating at senior levels.
