I. The Mission :

You will lead a world-class engineering organization responsible for our core Fintech and Banking portfolios. You aren't just a leader; you are a technical visionary who ensures our systems are as reliable and fast. You will bridge the gap between complex business requirements and elite engineering execution, pioneering an AI-first development culture (AIDLC) to set a new industry standard for productivity.

As the Director of Application Development, you will function as a high-impact technical executive. This role is designed for a technologist who can manage large-scale portfolios, lead multi-disciplinary teams (Front-end & Back-end), and navigate the complexities of the Fintech and Banking sectors.

You are expected to be a "technologist first"- a leader who can sit in an architectural review or a deep-dive debugging session and add immediate value, while simultaneously presenting digital transformation roadmaps for your portfolios.

The Director of Application Development will serve as a pivotal leader within the Netspend Product & Technology organization, reporting directly to the Engineering Leader. This highly visible Senior leadership role requires an accomplished engineering leader with deep expertise in building and scaling consumers products.

The Director of Application development will shape the long-term technology vision, drive SaaS-first engineering excellence, and ensure our product's solutions remain in the industry benchmark for innovation, reliability, and customer value. This leader will inspire high-performing global teams, foster strong cross-functional partnerships.

The Core Mandate :

1. Strategic Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management :

- The Bridge : Act as the primary interface between business units and engineering. You will translate high-level commercial objectives into executable technical strategies.

- Portfolio Oversight : Manage a comprehensive portfolio of applications, ensuring that cross-functional teams are aligned, unblocked, and delivering high-value features.

- Agile Transformation : Lead the evolution of the engineering org into a high-performing, fast-paced Agile environment, optimizing for both speed-to-market and system stability.

2. Technical Depth & Innovation (AIDLC) :

- Hands-on Guidance : While not required to write daily production code, you must possess the technical depth of a former Solution Architect or Dev Lead. You will guide teams through complex technical hurdles and ensure code quality standards.

- AI-Augmented Engineering : A core focus will be the AIDLC (AI-driven Development Life Cycle). You will be expected to implement AI tools and frameworks to drastically enhance team productivity and developer experience.

- Cloud Strategy : Direct the architecture and migration initiatives within the AWS ecosystem, ensuring cost-efficiency, scalability, and security.

- Move Fast with Stability : Transition teams into high-performing, autonomous units that ship code daily without compromising the integrity of financial transactions.

- Metric-Driven Results : Define and track KPIs that correlate engineering output with actual business revenue and user engagement.

3. Organizational Mentorship :

- Leader of Leaders : Provide direct mentorship and career development for Senior Managers and Associate Directors.

- Culture of Excellence : Foster an environment of continuous learning, psychological safety, and technical curiosity.

- Bottom-Up Leadership : Empower Senior Managers and Associate Directors to take extreme ownership. Foster a culture where the best ideas win, regardless of hierarchy.

Candidate Requirements :

Educational & Foundation (Mandatory) :

- Academic Excellence : B.Tech / B.E. from a reputed, top-tier institute or a Master of Computer Applications (MCA).

Experience & Skills :

- Years of Experience : 14+ years in Software Development with a progressive track record of leadership.

- Domain Expertise : Deep experience in Fintech and Banking (High-volume transactions, security protocols, regulatory compliance).

- Full-Stack Vision : Proven experience leading both Front-end and Back-end initiatives simultaneously.

- Technical Stack : Strong foundational knowledge in modern microservices, distributed systems, and AWS Migration.

- Communication : Elite communication skills; able to influence senior business stakeholders and inspire junior engineers.

High-Weightage Qualifications :

- Demonstrated success in using AI to enhance team efficiency (e.g., LLM-integrated workflows, automated code synthesis, or AI-driven testing).

- Experience transitioning legacy banking systems into modern, cloud-native architectures.

- A "Consultative Mindset" : The ability to analyze problems from a first-principles perspective and drive data-backed decisions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :

- Operational Efficiency : 30% improvement in development velocity via AIDLC tools.

- System Reliability : Maintaining 99.99% uptime for critical banking portfolios.

- Talent Retention : Reducing attrition among high-potential Senior Managers and Directors.

- Stakeholder Satisfaction : High NPS from business partners on the "transparency and predictability" of the delivery pipeline.

Why This Role?

This is a rare opportunity to build a "Google-caliber" engineering org within the high-stakes world of Finance. You will have the budget of a Tier-1 firm and the autonomy to rewrite the rules of how software is built using AI.
