About the Role
As a seasoned Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading large, high-performing engineering teams in building secure, scalable, and high-availability financial technology platforms. Your role will involve driving architecture, execution excellence, regulatory-grade reliability, and engineering culture while closely partnering with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own engineering strategy aligned with product and business goals.
- Lead multiple engineering teams (50100+ engineers through EMs).
- Build and scale distributed engineering org structures.
- Drive long-term technology roadmap and platform evolution.
- Design and oversee high-scale, low-latency, fault-tolerant systems.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Build secure payment systems, lending platforms, risk engines, or banking APIs.
- Establish best practices for data security, encryption, and fraud prevention.
- Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery across squads.
- Drive agile execution with measurable KPIs (velocity, reliability, uptime).
- Improve DevOps maturity, CI/CD, and release processes.
- Manage technical debt while enabling innovation.
- Hire and mentor Engineering Managers and Staff/Principal Engineers.
- Create a strong engineering culture rooted in ownership and accountability.
- Drive performance management and succession planning.
- Build India engineering as a strategic innovation hub (if applicable).
- Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams.
- Translate regulatory requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
- Participate in executive planning and board-level updates.
