About the Role:

KreditBee is scaling aggressively, and the engineering backbone needs a leader who can bring order, velocity, and long-term architecture thinking. This is not a cosmetic leadership role. You will own the re-architecture of our underwriting and loan-origination systems, break long-standing silos, and transform a firefighting-heavy environment into a high-velocity, high-accountability engineering organization.

If you can't operate in chaos, influence without drama, and deliver at scale this role will eat you alive.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Vision & Execution

- Define and execute a multi-year engineering roadmap that supports lending growth and new business lines.

- Lead the re-architecture of the underwriting and loan-origination platforms to improve reliability, performance, and scalability.

- Drive platform modernization while ensuring day-to-day delivery doesn't slow down.

Velocity & Delivery Excellence

- Improve release velocity by 50% within the first 12 months through process, tooling, and cultural upgrades.

- Establish engineering quality standards, CI/CD maturity, and disciplined release management.

Team Leadership & Org Scaling

- Lead a 150-member engineering org through 5-6 engineering leads.

- Foster a culture that replaces firefighting with deliberate design, data-driven decision-making, and predictable execution.

- Build strong cross-functional partnership with Product, Data, Risk, and Business.

Breaking Silos & Engineering Culture

- Collapse existing silos and introduce a unified engineering operating model.

- Build systems, rituals, and operating mechanisms that reduce chaos and improve alignment.

- Bring clarity and accountability to decision-making, technical ownership, and delivery timelines.

Architecture & Technical Depth

- Provide high-level architectural guidance on distributed systems, microservices scaling, data platforms, and security/compliance guardrails.

- Ensure systems meet the demanding needs of regulated lending, underwriting accuracy, and high-volume transactions.

Operational Excellence

- Own uptime, performance, and stability of critical systems.

- Introduce observability, root-cause culture, and preventive engineering practices.

- Partner with DevOps & SRE teams to build scalable infra and optimize cost.

Key Outcomes (First 6-18 Months)

You will be measured on:

- 50% improvement in release velocity and reduction of engineering cycle time.

- Delivery of the re-architected underwriting and loan-origination engine without business disruption.

- Breaking down silos and establishing a unified engineering operating model.

- Reducing firefighting by introducing system stability, observability, and preventative practices.

- Elevating technical decision-making speed and reducing dependency on hero culture.

Required Experience

- 15+ years in engineering with at least 5+ years leading large, multi-team orgs.

- Proven track record of scaling high-traffic platforms in fintech or adjacent domains.

- Deep experience in lending/underwriting systems, risk engines, or financial platforms.

- Demonstrated success in re-architecture, platform modernization, and org transformation.

- Strong command of distributed systems, microservices, data architecture, and cloud infra.

- Ability to operate in high-growth, high-pressure environments.
