About the Role

Role Overview:
As a Director Data Engineering leader in retail banking at Barclays LTS, Pune campus, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of the enterprise data products to support the consumer credit risk function. Your role involves managing teams working in modern full-stack development practices and tools to build data infrastructure. You must have a deep understanding of microservices architecture, resiliency patterns, full stack applications, data architecture, big data technologies, and strong team leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the data platform to support business objectives.

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of full stack engineers, data engineers, architects, and data scientists.

• Design scalable solutions for BUK Cards space by understanding data access and usage patterns.

• Ensure data integrity, security, scalability, efficiency, and availability across the platform.

• Drive adoption of best engineering and operational practices, including data warehousing and governance.

• Stay updated with emerging technologies to drive innovation.

• Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to enhance platform capabilities.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

• Monitor key performance indicators to track effectiveness of data-driven initiatives.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions.

Qualifications Required:

• Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals and data engineering.

• Demonstrated leadership and management capability for large engineering organizations.

• Proficiency in big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark.

• Experience with data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, etc.

• Exposure to automated testing, continuous delivery model, and machine learning/AI technologies.

• Understanding of agile and SaFe frameworks.
