The Role :

- We are looking for a Head of Engineering who is equal parts deep technologist who can build tools as lego blocks and highly agile work flow integrator leveraging lego blocks to deliver to the varied bespoke requirements coming from researchers of frontier tech labs. This role is heavy on both technical execution and operational ownership - you will be expected to build, integrate, ship, and run.

- A core superpower for this role: knowing exactly which third-party tools exist across the AI ecosystem and what to build in house Vs how to rapidly stitch 3rd party tools together to deliver predictable TAT and high QC for the data sets shared by HL to the labs. Speed to delivery with high QC is what will grow this business. This is not a manager who delegates. This is a builder who also leads.

What You Will Do :

Technical Leadership :

- Architect and own Humynlabs.ai's end-to-end AI data infrastructure- with Voice and Video AI as primary focus areas, extending across NLP, computer vision, document AI, RLHF, and multimodal data pipelines

- Lead design decisions on ASR, TTS, speaker diarization, emotion detection, video understanding, and multimodal AI systems as HL is building vertical integrated tech stack in voice to start with.

- Evaluate, select, and integrate best-in-class third-party APIs and tools across the AI ecosystem- when internal tools are not yet built, stitch the right external tools together to deliver

- Build legos, composable pipelines that allow rapid tool-swapping and vendor-agnostic delivery across any AI data vertical

- Own the technical roadmap for Humynlabs.ai's annotation tooling, data quality systems, and AI-assisted labeling infrastructure

- Define and enforce engineering standards: code quality, system design, latency, reliability, and scalability

Operational Ownership :

- Own end-to-end delivery of AI data projects- from scoping and architecture to deployment and QA

- Drive cross-functional coordination between Data Ops, Product, and Client Success to ensure on-time delivery

- Build runbooks, playbooks, and SOPs for repeatable project execution at scale

- Manage vendor relationships with third-party AI tool providers- negotiate, integrate, and monitor

- Monitor production systems, manage incident response, and ensure 99%+ uptime on critical pipelines

Team & Hiring :

- Hire, mentor, and grow a lean, high-performance engineering team (ML engineers, backend engineers, data engineers)

- Establish a culture of ownership, speed, and iterative delivery

- Partner with co-founders on engineering strategy and roadmap

What We Are Looking For :

Must-Have Experience :

- 12-18+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership in a senior engineering role (CTO, Head of Engineering, VP Engineering, or equivalent)

- Deep hands-on expertise in Voice AI (primary): ASR, TTS, NLU, speaker diarization, voice cloning, accent/emotion recognition

- Solid experience in Video AI (primary): video transcription, scene understanding, facial analysis, lip-sync, or video annotation pipelines

- Working knowledge across broader AI data domains - NLP/text annotation, computer vision, document AI, RLHF, or multimodal datasets

- Strong knowledge of the external Voice/Video AI tool ecosystem - you know AssemblyAI vs Deepgram vs Whisper vs Azure Speech and can pick the right one for the right use case in minutes

- Ability to extend the same 'tool-stitching' mindset beyond Voice/Video into any AI data vertical Humynlabs.ai serves

- Experience building human-in-the-loop (HITL) pipelines and annotation platforms at scale

- Proven track record of shipping production AI systems, not just research or prototypes

- Founding or early-stage startup experience - you have built something from scratch

- Excellent written and verbal communication - you can explain architecture to a CEO and code to an engineer in the same day

Nice to Have :

- Experience with multilingual/Indic language AI models (Sarvam, AI4Bharat, Dhruva)

- Familiarity with Web3 infrastructure, on-chain identity, or tokenized incentive systems

- Prior experience building data marketplaces or expert network platforms

- Open-source contributions in Speech/NLP/Audio ML
