About the Role

Role Overview:
As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at The/Nudge, you will play a crucial role in stewarding the organization's financial health, resilience, and integrity as it scales in size, complexity, and impact. Your responsibilities will involve providing strategic finance leadership, hands-on execution, and institution-building to enable sustainable growth across diverse impact streams. You will act as a strategic partner to the Founder, leadership team, and Board, offering financial insight, robust systems, and strong governance to support The/Nudge's long-term mission of creating a poverty-free India.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic inputs on financial aspects of key organizational and programmatic decisions.

• Enable data-driven decision-making by developing and presenting high-quality financial insights to the senior management team.

• Partner closely with leadership and impact stream heads on new initiatives, pilots, and scale-up plans.

• Support the leadership team in building financial models that facilitate sustainable scaling.

• Drive organization-wide budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring processes.

• Design, implement, and continuously improve financial planning and reporting systems.

• Review and analyze monthly financial results, highlighting risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.

• Ensure timely, accurate, and transparent reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensure full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulatory requirements.

• Oversee audits, donor audits, and regulatory reporting.

• Manage organizational risk and financial controls.

• Lead treasury operations with a focus on risk, returns, and liquidity optimization.

• Establish controls for fund utilization, tracking, and reporting.

• Build and scale strong finance, compliance, and legal teams.

• Leverage technology for improved efficiency and scalability of financial processes.

• Create systems and processes supporting rapid growth while maintaining financial discipline.

Qualifications Required:

• 20+ years of experience in startups and/or Tier-1 corporates with leadership exposure.

• Strong financial modeling, planning, and analytical skills.

• Professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) and/or MBA.

• Comfort with technology-enabled financial systems and process automation.

• Ability to thrive in a high-intensity, fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

• Collaborative, empathetic leadership style with cross-functional influence.
