Accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Lead engineering operations for cloud platforms and engineering-delivered services, ensuring stable and secure operations.
• Design and guide delivery of robust Azure-based infrastructure with strong governance and compliance.
• Establish and manage operational service measures such as service levels and performance targets.
• Lead incident and problem management activities, ensuring effective recovery and prevention.
• Reduce manual effort by identifying repetitive tasks and driving automation.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code processes.
• Act as a subject matter expert for engineering platform operations.
• Develop and maintain operational runbooks, observability standards, and monitoring practices.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to create shared ownership of production services.
• Engage stakeholders to communicate performance, risks, and improvements.
• Promote best practices in engineering operations and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and support the development of engineers across operations functions.
• Ensure adherence to risk, compliance, and governance requirements.
• Represent engineering operations in decision-making forums and challenge where necessary.

Knowledge & Skills:
• Strong understanding of Azure services including compute, storage, networking and platform components.
• Knowledge of Azure governance practices including RBAC, Azure Policies, compliance and governance rollouts.
• Proficiency with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, Azure PowerShell and YAML.
• Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
• Strong skills in incident and problem management, with the ability to diagnose complex and unknown issues.
• Familiarity with observability tools like Azure Monitor, Datadog or any other APM platforms.
• Ability to apply engineering and automation principles to operational problems.
• Understanding of service management processes and tooling such as ServiceNow.
• Ability to work within Agile ways of working such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Experience mentoring, guiding and developing team members.
• Awareness of cloud cost, capacity and optimisation practices.
• Strong understanding of Azure IaaS and PaaS foundations including VNets, Subnets, Firewalls and NSGs.
• Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Shell.
• Experience with container and orchestration technologies including Kubernetes, Helm charts, Kyverno, and container registries.
• Familiarity with RedHat OpenShift and related container platforms.
• Experience using security and quality scanning tools such as SonarQube and Checkmarx.
• Working knowledge of Linux, Windows, OCI, Serverless services and Databricks.
• Experience with Power Platform and Power BI for automation and reporting.
• Ability to configure, maintain and improve monitoring, alerting and logging standards.
• Ability to independently solve problems and build robust solutions with minimal supervision.
• Ability to deliver high‑quality work within established guidance while applying sound professional judgement.
• Ability to collaborate across teams, influence decisions and constructively challenge assumptions.
• Ability to work autonomously while knowing when to escalate or request support.
• Ability to provide specialist expertise and contribute to cross‑team problem solving.
• Continuous improvement mindset focused on reducing operational toil and improving system reliability.

Experience:

Minimum 12 years of relevant experience who can showcase delivering with the help of the team by taking responsibility end to end.

Educational Qualification:
• Graduate/Masters in any discipline
• Cloud certifications would be an added advantage
