About the Role:
As the Associate Director for Buying & Merchandising (International Brands), you will be at the forefront of Myntra's mission to bring global fashion to the Indian consumer. This is a high-impact, brand-facing leadership role that combines strategic category management, international relationship building, and rigorous P&L ownership. You will lead a high- performing team to curate trend-first assortments from global partners while ensuring market-leading growth and profitability.
Key Objective:
- To scale the International Brand portfolio through strategic selection, superior brand management, and data-driven merchandising while maintaining Myntra's position as the preferred partner for global fashion labels.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Brand Strategy & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for premium global brands, managing end-to-end relationships from onboarding to scaling.
- Negotiate commercial terms, margins, and marketing support with international partners to ensure business viability.
- Collaborate with brands on exclusive launches, capsule collections, and India-specific trend adaptations.
2. Strategic Buying & Category Planning
- Develop and execute the seasonal buying strategy for the international portfolio, ensuring a balance between global trends and Indian consumer preferences.
- Lead OTB (Open-to-Buy) planning, ensuring optimal inventory levels across categories to maximize full-price sell-through.
- Drive assortment health by managing width, depth, and exclusivity of products.
3. Revenue & P&L Ownership
- Own the top-line and bottom-line for the assigned international portfolio.
- Monitor key business metrics including GMV, Net Margin, Inventory Turn, and CM2 levels.
- Develop promotional calendars and markdown strategies to optimize stock aging and Profitability.
4. Merchandising & Operations
- Work closely with the Revenue and Marketing teams to drive visibility for international brands on the platform.
- Optimize the digital storefront for brands, ensuring high-quality cataloging and premium visual merchandising.
- Oversee the supply chain and logistics coordination for international shipments to ensure timely inwarding of stock.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years of experience in Fashion Buying/Merchandising, preferably within the E-commerce or organized Retail space.
International Exposure: Proven track record of managing global brands or working in international markets is highly preferred.
Analytical Rigor: Strong command over retail math and data-driven decision-making
Behavioral Attributes:
Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture and identify long-term growth levers. Influence: Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to manage diverse stakeholders (Internal & External).
Agility: Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where speed is critical.
Ideal Candidate
Someone who has scaled buying operations across multiple channels (online + retail) at a fashion/apparel company, with proven ability to negotiate with global brand HQs and translate supply chain constraints into profitable assortment decisions.
